State Senator Jeff Smith (D-Brunswick) and manufactured home community residents from Hillcrest Estates and Villa Diann will participate in a townhall meeting on Tuesday, June 9th at 6:30 PM at the Fish House at Altoona City Park to discuss housing affordability in manufactured home communities in the Chippewa Valley.
Manufactured Home Communities are one of the last options for affordable housing, but residents are being confronted with predatory business practices from private equity firms. Early this year, Sen. Smith introducedSB1027 to help residents know their rights and provide certainty during this turbulent economy. SB1027 was ignored by the Republican majority during the current legislative session. Senator Smith hopes to find new ways to enhance his bill and draft new legislation aimed at improving manufactured home affordability.
