DON'T MISS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSETS, ADD TO THE FABULOUS EAU CLAIRE COUNTY DEMOCRAT THRIFT SALE.

To make this year's sale more manageable, we have decided that the following types of items WILL be accepted:

Cleaning things out?  Please save your lightly worn items, specialty items and furniture.  Here are things that are popular: 

  • jewelry

  • artwork, art supplies, crafting

  • garden tools, including outdoor furniture, camping and fishing equipment

  • children’s clothing, cleaned, toys, children’s furniture

  • Toys/bikes/games

  • furniture—needs to be lightweight and movable such as tables, chairs, bookcases, lamps, UW student desirable (No Cribs)

  • sporting goods—bikes, fishing, team memorabilia, etc.

  • plants newly potted

  • Kitchen items

  • backpacks

  • tools in general

  • children’s books only - no encyclopedia sets or adult books

  • vinyl records, CDs, DVDs

  • gently used quilts

    Rules: We can not accept:
    Adult clothes or books, Holiday items, TVs, Computers, Printers, Stoves, Refrigerators, Freezers, Other large appliances.No linens or funky items. No shoes, random glassware or dishes. Electronics cords, Mattresses,Kids car seats, Undergarments,Dirty, smelly or unusable items.

    Items that are not sold will be donated to Hope Gospel Mission, unless the donor wants the item returned.

Guidelines for Pricing Thrift Sale Items

 

Estimate value of the item. This can be done in a few ways:

·      Consider what you paid for it
or

·      Go to the google search bar on your phone. You will see a small icon of a camera in the right corner of the search bar. With the item in front of you, click on that camera icon. Your camera will open for you to take a photo, and then google will automatically search for the item and display it (or look alikes). Scroll through the items it finds and see any prices assigned in this search.

THEN, consider condition: New, Like New, Excellent, Good, and lower price accordingly.

THEN, what is 1/3rd of this value, and from that number, lower a little more. We want our shoppers to be happy with their purchases.


This should give you an idea of the current value for a thrift sale item. Typically, bookshelves are around

$5.00, desks are around $10.00, chairs are around $5.00. All records, CD’s or DVD’s will be the same

and don’t need to be marked individually. Small children’s clothes are typically $.50 or $1.00, depending

on quality/logos. Jackets and snowpants, etc. can be around $3.00 or $4.00, depending on quality,

condition, etc. Older children tops and pants can be in the $2.00 range.

 

There are no exact dollar amounts to worry about. And if you want help with this, please give me a call or email. I might be able to come to your house and view items that you are unsure about.
