Dear JONAH community,
Many of us are feeling shaken and raw after the news of large-scale ICE officers’ activity in Minneapolis, reports of enforcement actions here in Eau Claire, and the killing of a motorist during one of the operations in Minneapolis. Even without every detail, we know this much: people are afraid, and a life has been lost in a system that is supposed to protect the public.
That should stop us in our tracks.

USPS Changes Postmark Rules Affect Mail In Ballots, other Time-sensitive mailings.
Beginning in 2026, the USPS has instituted a new rule that the postmark will now reflect the date an envelope is first processed by an automated USPS sorting machine.
Time-sensitive mail such as ABSENTEE/MAIL IN BALLOTS should be mailed several days before the deadline.

Gov. Evers 2025 Visits to Eau Claire County
On Feb. 10, Gov. Evers visited the Eau Claire Head Start Center, which is part of the Western Dairyland Head Start Program, to highlight the Year of the Kid and the Evers Administration’s plans to lower everyday, out-of-pocket costs for Wisconsinites and working families statewide, including the costs of child care, in the 2025-27 Biennial Budget.
